- God and His Kingdom are Holy and Not of This World - Rev 4 declares His infinite Triune Holy character. Indeed, everything about God is holy. His Name is Holy as Psa 99 states. His Word, the Bible is holy, according to Jer 23. His Habitation is also Holy, as Jer 25 affirms. God’s kingdom is as holy as God Himself is holy and is spiritual in nature. Thus, all true believers are also not of this world because they are part of God’s kingdom, as we understand from John 17.
Rev 4:8 “And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”
Psa 99:3 “Let them praise thy great and terrible name; for it is holy.”
Jer 23:9 “Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the LORD, and because of the words of his holiness.”
Jer 25:30 “Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.”
John 18:36 “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.”
John 17:6,14 “I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were,
and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word… I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”
- The World is Unholy and Under the Curse of God’s Law - Right at the beginning of the Bible we learn that mankind and this world are cursed and unholy as a result of the sin of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. 1 John 2 describes the essence of the state of this world. Individually, each human being that is not saved is under God’s curse as Gal 3 says. What does this verse really mean? Just as a human marriage is indissoluble until one of the spouses die, every individual is spiritually married to the Law of God, the Bible. Because of our sin nature we have disobeyed over and over again our spiritual Husband, the Bible. In other words, we have been unfaithful to the Law of God, which is the definition of sin. That is why every unsaved person is under the curse of God’s Law, because they are spiritually dead and cannot obey the Bible perfectly in thought, word, and deed. It is for this reason that each unsaved person is under a dreadful curse. Mat 25 depicts the most frightful experience for any human being on Judgment Day.
Gen 3:17-19 “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field: In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
1 John 2:15-16 “... For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”
Gal. 3:10 “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”
Mat 25:41 “Then shall he [Jesus Christ] say also unto them on the left hand [the unsaved], Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.”
- God Makes His People Holy and Free from the Curse - You might be asking, “Is there any way to escape from this terrible, eternal dilemma?” Thankfully by God’s grace, the Bible says that there is a Divine remedy, as we read in Gal 3. We need a new Husband, as we learn from Rom 7. We need a Savior – and there is only One – as we read in many places in the Old Testament, for example, in Hos 13. The LORD of the Old Testament (Jehovah) is God the Son, Jesus Christ as we se in the New Testament, in Mat 1.
Gal 3:13 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree...”
2 Cor 5:21 “For he [God the Father] hath made him [God the Son] to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
Rom 7:4 “Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.”
Hos 13:4 “Yet I am the LORD [Jehovah] thy God from the land of Egypt, and thou shalt know no god but me: for there is no saviour beside me.”
Mat 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
Luke 2:11 "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."
Col 1:21-22 “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled. In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight...”
